Mexico Cruisin’

Hi guys! For vacation, we recently went on a Cruise to Mexico. The trip was awesome. We’ve watched movies and had mommy and daughter time. The time I got to spend with my mom was great because lately I haven’t got to spend a lot of one-on-one time with her. The cruise ship was cool. It had two pools and a water slide. They had a Paris dinner ballroom and a London dinner ballroom. There was a gym with a sauna and steam room, and a spa, casino, night clubs, and an arcade.

On Saturday, we went to go and play. We traveled from the cruise ship, to a ferry, to a bus. It was really fun. I was able to spend more quality time with my Mom. We had a tour guide, her name was Karla, and she was really nice. She took us hiking to see Mayan culture. That was really fun, and then I went swimming through an underground river. It was very big and long. It was about 6 feet deep. I wore some blue flippers and a pink and green life vest. I didn’t have any goggles; I wish I would have had some snorkel gear. My mom said we can buy some so I can learn to snorkel this summer.

The river was 24 degrees Celsius; it was cold! I thought I was going to get frostbite. After a while, I got used to the temperature and forgot all about it. When I got out, my fingers and toes looked like an old lady, all wrinkled. Along the river there was a nice water statue, it kind of reminded me of a meditating Buddha. I was able to take my GoPro with me and recorded the whole thing. I still have to edit it so it’s not ready yet. Once it’s ready, I will post it. Make sure you check back to the site to see it!

We also ate at restaurant on the beach. I had a cheeseburger and french fries, a shrimp taco, and a bottle of water. When we finished our lunch we went to the hammocks on the beach and rested for thirty minutes. Then, we walked through the Xcaret ecological park. The park is a home for animals like different kinds of birds, spider monkeys, deer, and some water animals. We then stopped and did some shopping. We bought a new Mexican hand-made hammock for the yard, some ceramic hearts, and some popsicles to cool off with.

We also bought some awesome decorated skeleton skulls. I learned that in Mexico, they celebrate a holiday called Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos). They use sugar skulls to decorate gravestones of the deceased. In the park, there were decorated gravestones. You could know how the deceased used to live their lives by how they decorated the graves. For example, if they had chickens they could have been farmers.

You should definitely visit Mexico. You can learn a lot about other people’s culture. I hope you like my blog post! Subscribe and Share!

Sounds like you had an awesome vacation with your mom. Thanks for sharing all that you learned. I did not know anything about the Day of the Dead. Hopefully one day I can take my family to Mexico and we can experience the things you and your Mom did.
