Turtle Gloves – Winter Soft Midweight Flip Mittens
As someone who has lived in Southern Louisiana for 17 years, I rarely needed gloves; but now that I’m in Northern California, winter mornings make them a staple! Turtle Gloves flip mittens have come in super clutch…

Turtle Gloves Flip Mittens
I received a pair of Turtle Gloves Flip Mittens in November to try out! I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical of them at first because I’ve never worn a full mitten while I run, but I was sold on them right away! The Turtle Gloves are soft and lightweight! The ones I have are the “Winter Soft Midweight” flip mittens. My gloves are a size small (see pictures below for fit). Turtle Gloves has a great sizing chart on their website that will help you pick the right size for you!
These gloves are recommended for everyday use and for running at below freezing temps! The mittens have a flip-over feature to either allow your fingers to hang out while still covering your hands or flip-over into a full enclosed mitten!
The Turtle Glove flip-over feature is great for runners who warm-up quickly while running or if you need your hands quickly but don’t want to remove your glove and expose your whole hand.
I HATE being cold! I recently went on a four-mile run along the lake on a cold and windy afternoon. Even though the temps were in the low 40s, the wind made it feel much colder. It was great to be able to start my run with my full mittens on and to be able to flip them over mid-run once my body started warming up and adjusting to the weather.
I also play around with my phone a lot when I run or bike. I like to shuffle through music, take pictures of the views, or answer calls/texts if needed. Being able to quickly flip-over my Turtle Glove mittens makes it super easy to have access to my phone!
Turtle Glove Features
In addition to the flip-over features, I love a few other notable points as well:
- Soft, moisture-wicking – as I warm up while I’m running, these do a great job wicking the sweat away and keeping me dry. There’s nothing worst than being cold and sweaty on a long run!
- Not Bulky – it’s hard to find a glove that will keep you warm and also not be too bulky. The Polartec material does great at keeping my hands warm, but they’re also thin enough to take off and throw into my pocket if I get warm enough!
- Stretchy material – I also love that the gloves fit over my watch and snuggly over my jacket sleeve so that I’m completely covered!

Being from Chicago, I usually don’t think of California being cold, but I know there are days when it’s even colder there than here! I’m really loving these mittens. I’ve been flipping them open most of the time so far, but we are quickly heading into ‘real’ winter here and I’m sure they will be used in full-mitten mode!

I definitely love my turtles 😉 I’m in Iowa, so the cold temps in late fall and winter are legit LOL
